Finnish rock band Knucklebone Oscar to headline a ten gig tour of China in September

The tour of to seven cities begins from Tianjin and continues to Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chongqing and Chengdu. On its way south, the rock ‘n’ roll circus will also hit the grounds of the Finnish pavilion at Shanghai Expo.

After 15 years of touring and rocking audiences around Europe, Oscar and his quartet Janne “Baron Von Glueneck” Valppu (bass), Tommi “Iso-Holkki” Ollikainen (guitar) and Niko “Lihamestari” Votkin (drums) are bringing their energetic brand of rock ‘n’ roll to China for the first time. The band’s shows of electrifying ADD-blues, mixed with garage rock flavors & punk energy have established the group’s reputation as a not to be missed live act.

The band’s journey through China will be recorded and made into a document planned for domestic and international release early 2011. The document is directed and produced by Oskari Pastila. A highlight of the tour in China will be the Sichuan Rock Aid concert, a Finnish-Chinese collaboration with proceeds going to the area affected by the 2008 earthquake.

Knucklebone Oscar was formed in 1994 and released their first album in 1996. The group signed a record contract with German Rookie Records in 2008 and released the album ‘Back from the Jungle’ in Central Europe the same year. The record will be released digitally in China in September of 2010. The group is set to release their fifth album in the fall of 2010. The visit to Shanghai Expo will be organized in collaboration with Finpro.
